How should I care for my skin post session?

  • HYDRATE!!! Drink plenty of water after your session. Hydration helps your skin heal more quickly and efficiently.

  • Following your session, do not touch or scratch the area. Bacteria can be transferred easily to area and this can cause breakouts (whiteheads).

  • Applying a cool compress will help reduce redness and may encourage a better skin reaction.

  • DO NOT wash or wear make-up over the area for 48 hours. Sometimes washing with soap can cause irritation. Use witch hazel and a clean cotton to clean and soothe the area.

  • Avoid perfume or alcohol-based products. They will dry out your skin.

  • Avoid excessive sweating. NO WORKOUTS!!! Sweat causes bacteria to enter into the open follicles and cause minor infection, in the area that has been epilated. Exercise 24 hours before your electrolysis appointment, instead of afterward.

  • Sun Exposure - Avoid sun exposure 48 hours Before and After your session. Excessive sun will dilate blood vessels, resulting in micro scabbing, and possible permanent skin damage. Your skin defends against UV rays by producing pigment, the results can include but not limited to hyperpigmentation (red, brown, or black spots), hypopigmentation (white spots), and delayed healing.

  • Do not tweeze, thread, or wax the area you want electrolysis preformed on. These methods of temporary hair removal will undo the work that has been done and may stimulate more hair growth. Clipping or shaving the hairs is the only acceptable methods in between appointments.
